Q1 – March 2019 | web www.ear2hear.co.za
This year has certainly started out on a rocky fashion. Locally and internationally the nations are raging and are in turmoil.
When things seem at their darkest, it presents an opportunity for the Lord to shine through us, brighter than ever before.
“The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you" Romans 8:11.
This Good News truth can be shared with all we meet. All who live in darkness must hear that there is the hope of Jesus – in Him is where salvation lies. All who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved!
God bless and happy reading.
When is correction or a rebuke actually a critical spirit in disguise?
We know that at times we work with difficult situations in our Churches and Ministries which require rebuking and correction. This is not something we do every day. It usually happens when people stop listening to the voice of the Lord, that God out of necessity sends human messengers to intervene.
As leaders, God has placed a calling over us to lead by example. So that others may learn; go forward; and thrive spiritually. If we ourselves are criticising our brothers and sisters… how can we expect others to stop entertaining the critical spirit that is so prevalent in the Christian world today. When there is sin in “the camp" the Lord removes His help and presence from us. A defiling spirit such as the critical spirit is one such example of a sinful presence that God will not tolerate. The critical spirit certainly works against our efforts as leaders and as such we need to wait on the Lord before we correct and rebuke others.
Proverbs 13:17-18 says “Wise people think before they act; fools don’t—and even brag about their foolishness. An unreliable messenger stumbles into trouble, but a reliable messenger brings healing. If you ignore criticism, you will end in poverty and disgrace; if you accept correction, you will be honoured".
To ensure the critical spirit has no foothold in our circle of influence, we need to act wisely and we also need to be reliable messengers of God. Do not rebuke or correct unless the Lord is calling us to do so in specific situations. We must always check our hearts in these matters. Before rebuke and correction leave your lips, find yourself in prayer asking God to fill your heart with love for the people you have an urgency to rebuke or correct. Then ask God to show you whether your words are truly from Him and are they the full truth. This will help ensure that when we do have a necessity to rebuke and correct, that it will yield the godly fruit in the lives we are called to care for.
Whatever we do, we need check this infiltration of the enemy and bring it to the Lord. If you have concerns about other believers; it is important to submit those thoughts and words to the feet of Jesus. He is the righteous judge. He will quickly show us how wrong our rebuke or correction can be. You can be misled. Your facts may be wrong. The enemy may have even shared false data to you about others. The only one who sees the full picture is the Lord.
God is calling Kingdom leaders forth to show the way forward.
